Massachusetts requires all parties to a divorce action in which there are minor children to attend and participate in an approved Parent Education Program. All parties to a divorce action in which there are minor children must register with an approved program within thirty days of service of the original complaint upon the original defendant. Other parties ordered to attend a parent education program must register for a program within thirty days of the order.
Parents Forever is a program offered by the Family Service Association and offers court-mandated classes for parents going through divorce or separation who have children under the age of 18.
This 6-hour course (2 three-hour sessions) provides practical skills that parents can use to reduce the negative impact of divorce and separation while working to improve communication between themselves and their children. New courses begin each month at locations in Fall River, Dartmouth, Easton, East Wareham, Taunton and Attleboro. Sessions are held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Saturday mornings. Visit the Parents Forever webpage for complete details.
